Gamebore ProShot Ben Husthwaite kicked off his 2018 competitive clay season in style, with his first title win of the year at the English Open Compak Sporting Championships.
Held at Orston Shooting Ground in Nottinghamshire, the 2018 English Open Compak Sporting Championship took place at the tail-end of the 'Beast from the East', a snowstorm that resulted in many shooting ground closures and event cancellations. Despite the awful weather conditions, the team at Orston along with representatives from the BICTSF organised a great shoot, and many shooters from all over England braved the freezing temperatures in a bid to bag the championship title.
A last minute entry, due only to the cancellation of a rugby match he was set to compete in, Ben Husthwaite managed to set the pace with an incredible score of 99/100 - matched only by four other competitors who went on to shoot-off. Eventually, after a further sudden death shoot-off against Henry Arnold, Ben won the competition, securing his first title of the season using Black Gold Dark Storm cartridges.
