Aaron Harvey's British Open Hat-Trick

Junior Gamebore shooter Aaron Harvey wins his third consecutive British Open English Sporting championship at West Midlands Shooting Ground, in Shropshire.

The ninety-first annual CPSA British Open English Sporting Championship took place this weekend at West Midlands Shooting Ground in Shropshire. Places for the event, arguably the most poplar Sporting event in the UK shooting calendar, sold out months in advance.

Over one thousand shooters flocked to Hodnet over the five days, to tackle the 120 Sporting targets set by ground owner Tom Jones. Among them was twenty year old Aaron Harvey from Suffolk who was taking part to defend his Junior Champion title.

Not only was he Junior Champion in 2015, but came 3rd over all after achieving a place in the Super Six final shoot-off against some of GB's most successful senior shots. He was also Junior Champion in 2016, so there was a lot of pressure on him to perform this year, his last ever major competition as a Junior shot, in what could potentially be his third consecutive win.

Aaron, who uses Black Gold, scored an impressive 107 out of 120 to secure a place in the semi-final, returning on Sunday to shoot a further 75 targets along with 159 other semi-finalists. His score of 66 our of 75 was enough to guarantee him the top place on the podium, and his hat-trick British Open Junior Champion title.

Congratulations Aaron! We wish you the very best of luck as you move in to the Senior category for next year!
