Kallum Burrell Crowned 2026 British Open SSP Champion
Kallum claimed the BO SSP Champion title using Dark Storm cartridges
Congratulations to Team Gamebore’s Kallum Burrell on winning the 2026 British Open Super Sporting Championship, held over the weekend at Garlands Shooting Ground.
Producing an outstanding score of 95 ex 100, Kallum topped a highly competitive field to claim one of the sport’s most prestigious domestic titles. Richard Bunning finished runner-up, with Chris Childerhouse taking third place after an excellent weekend of shooting. Kallum shot the championship using Black Gold Dark Storm cartridges and was understandably delighted with the result.
“Really pleased to have won the British Open Super Sporting with 95/100, feels like a long overdue big performance!” said Kallum after the event.
The victory comes almost exactly five years after Kallum won the World Sportrap Championship, making the achievement even more special.
The championship wasn’t without its challenges. Competitors faced hot, dry summer conditions throughout the weekend, making concentration and consistency all the more important.
Saturday also saw an unexpected interruption when a nearby barley stubble field caught fire close to the shooting ground. Course setter Steve Lovatt and his team acted immediately to contain the situation, while the CPSA safely evacuated the ground as emergency services attended the incident. Thanks to the swift response of four fire crews, the quick thinking of a neighbouring farmer who created a firebreak, and the efforts of everyone involved, the fire was brought under control and the competition was able to continue safely.
Credit goes to Steve, The Clay Shooting Company, the CPSA, the emergency services and all those involved for handling a difficult situation professionally, ensuring the safety of competitors, spectators and staff remained the priority throughout.
Kallum’s cartridge of choice is Black Gold Dark Storm. Renowned for its exceptionally consistent patterns and high-performance velocities, Black Gold Dark Storm has become a favourite amongst many of the UK’s top competition shooters.
When every target counts, consistency is everything, and the proven performance of Dark Storm gives competitors the confidence to focus entirely on the target ahead.
Everyone at Gamebore is incredibly proud to see Kallum add another major title to his growing list of achievements.
Congratulations once again, Kallum, on a thoroughly deserved victory, and we wish you the very best of luck as you head to Portugal for the World FITASC Sporting Championship.
